Throughout October 2024, the American Chiropractic Association (ACA) and chiropractic professionals nationwide observed National Chiropractic Health Month (NCHM) with the theme “Plan for a Strong Healthspan.” The focus of this year’s celebration was on raising awareness about the importance of maintaining a strong musculoskeletal (MSK) system for a longer and healthier life, especially for the aging population. The campaign encouraged the public to consider chiropractic care as an integral part of preventive healthcare, emphasizing that MSK health is crucial to maintaining the mobility, strength, and vitality that are often compromised with aging.

ACA provided its members with an extensive toolkit featuring educational materials, social media graphics, and messaging guidelines to promote the message of #StrongHealthspan. ACA also encouraged chiropractic practitioners nationwide to share these resources with patients to allow them to gain insights on how regular chiropractic care can help prevent and address common MSK issues such as back pain and joint dysfunction that are often expected to worsen with age.

ACA president Leo Bronston highlighted the month’s success, saying that awareness campaigns such as this one are essential in connecting communities with resources that foster proactive health decisions. Through the 2024 NCHM, ACA was able to demonstrate its ongoing commitment to supporting aging populations in maintaining functional independence and overall quality of life.
